I guess I'm partly to blame but it was a very quiet two wheeled summer. I only went to two Bike Nights and two motorcycle events this season. I thought that with the big adventure at Americade at the beginning of June that I would be spending a lot of time in the saddle. Instead weather, family commitments and unplanned events kept me from venturing out. I would do the occasional milk run or short ride around the neighborhood but mostly my bikes have been resting quietly in the garage. I'm hoping for a full schedule in the Fall and a chance to dust off the bikes with Mother Nature's breezes.
With that in mind I vowed this past Monday that I would end the Summer with some kind of ride longer than ten miles. I sat in the garage and pared down my vehicle choice to one. The CF Moto hadn't been out on an event or anything special except a Bike Night in Kingston where it got a flat tire. I figured I'd give it a chance to redeem itself and set off to ride some of the better roads in the area.
There's a road here called Hollow Road that runs between Hyde Park and Salt Point that is a fairly challenging route. Numerous curves and some blind curves that fall on the other side of rises in the road. Your Spider Senses are on high alert for most of it and I enjoy it every time I ride it. The scooter handled it well despite being third strongest in the horsepower department in my garage. From Hollow Road I went to the Taconic Pkwy. and mixed it up with homeward bound traffic heading South. Once exiting the Parkway I finished the ride on one of my favorite roads before pulling into the driveway.
It was a nice run and capped off a quiet riding Summer. I guess anything would be quiet after the Lake George extravaganza but I had hoped for a little more this season. The next two months may fill in nicely though so don't go too far away.
