Yes, I know it's been a while since the last entry. I haven't done anything adventurous since the Americade rally so in this vein there has been little to report. Let's see if I can relate some of the short news.
When I went to Americade there was a key cutting enterprise present among the vendors and since I have only ever had one key for the Kawasaki I thought it would be prudent to have another made. There was one problem though. Despite all their best efforts they were unable to make one that worked. When I came home I looked up locksmiths thinking that they would have better luck. As I related this to Linda she asked, "What about the local dealer. They should be able to make one for you.' Wise woman.
My local dealer not only carries Kawasaki, but Honda too. The Nighthawk also only had one key so I took that one with me to be reproduced. The short version of the story is that both keys were successfully made and work like charms. Now I can carry a spare with me on road trips in case I lose one and not be stuck miles from home.
During this time I have also tried to spread the wealth in riding the various machines. Since the new rear tire has been mounted on the CF Moto I have done some short tasks picking up milk and a run or two to a grocery store. The Honda has been to a Bike Night in Kingston, a trip that's a breeze for its willing engine. The little red Tiyen has done several short hauls to pick up Fast Food, milk and donuts and is running stronger with each trip. Most of the speed limits on the roads around here are well within its capability so it saves gas for the budget and gives me a smile at every outing.
That about sums it up. Nothing monumental, mostly utilitarian and satisfying to heart and soul. Each trip is a short and purposeful. When something bigger comes along I'll let you know.
